The Social Masters 2014 – The Winners Interview

Make New Friends, Play More Golf

The Social Golfer Masters

The Social Golfer Masters 2014 started with a warm welcome from The TSG Team.

Followed by the customary coffee and bacon roll.

However, the Green fee also included a no. of freebies including ball markers, and discount vouchers.

PLUS, a FREE lesson for all who attended.

The venue, Warley Park GC, was fantastic, the course in great condition.

The weather was also at its best, providing us with the most superb views of the surrounding Essex countryside.

The TSG Masters  – How they qualified?

Many players qualified from the monthly leaderboard with the remaining spaces snapped up via the ballot.

All 40 places were taken up, with no one wishing to miss out on the first TSG ‘Major’ of the year.

This made for an exciting competition and while some TSGers were familiar with the new course layout, most were totally alien to it.

Consequently, we played the Childerditch and the Warley ‘1 to 9’ loop, two very different layouts offering their own challenges.

The latter including some superb water features.

The TSG Masters  – The Winners…

Our inaugural winners:

  • Matt Taylor (Kent) scored a fantastic 38 Pts off his 12 handicap.
  • Second was Andy Flynn 2nd (Essex) with 37 Pts
  • Third was Damian Benstead (Sussex) – 34 Pts.

We also competed for 2 x Nearest Pins and a ‘Straightest Drive’.

Additionally, winners on the day also included popular TSGers, Dave Allchorne, Judy Lilley, Andy Attard with Ben Fykin taking the Nearest Pin Trophy.

However, we’ll leave the final words to our new The Social Golfer Masters 2014 Champion…

New Champion Golfer on the day, Matt Coffey-Taylor said:

The venue was a great choice and I’m sure everyone would agree a real challenge, those greens were fast! The views all around the course are worth the visit alone and I’m very much looking forward to returning with the very generous TSG four ball prize.”

“All the little TSG touches made it feel really special on the day right from the welcome banner outside to the free gifts. My playing partners on the day were a pleasure to play with and it was great to meet all the new (to me) and old TSG faces after the round.

He went on to say: “TSG epitomises the spirit of the game of golf and it’s great to know that whenever I play with someone new through the site, they’ll be like minded and great company.”

“I must thank you all so much for making it the golfing day of my life and I can’t wait to see everyone again for the next TSG event at Bletchingley!
