Make New Friends, Play More Golf
The Social Golfer (TSG) – the UK’s biggest Golf Society with over 17K registered users – are excited to announce a partnership with The Golf Foundation.
The TSG Team hope to raise money for the UK charity at their annual Social Golfer OPEN Championship 2025. With the ambition to help fund more workshops and life skills sessions in UK schools.
Taking place on Sunday, 27th July 2025 at the much-heralded Bletchingley Golf Club in Surrey, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better, with even more opportunities to raise money for an incredible cause.
On the day, TSGers will enjoy a full 18 holes of competitive but friendly golf, trophies, prizes and an evening BBQ and presentation. And with a Raffles, charity competitions, and donation points on the course, everyone will have the chance to contribute to the Golf Foundation’s mission.
The theme for this year’s event will be ‘School Days’ with a focus on reminding golfers that not everyone has access to our sport and the importance of The Golf Foundations’ work.
As ever, The Social Golfer community will be out in force with players from all over the South East attending, bringing the friendly, welcoming, and inclusive spirit they are known for. In addition, there will be 80s and 90s music played on 18th green to welcome the golfer home and a ‘School dinners’ style BBQ to finish.
For those unfamiliar, The Golf Foundation is a national charity dedicated to introducing children to golf. Particularly those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to try the sport. Through school and community outreach, they use golf as a tool to teach young people confidence, perseverance, and life skills. Helping shape brighter futures both on and off the course.
Since 2010, The Social Golfer has grown into the UK’s most vibrant online golf club with more than 15K monthly visitors. They have connected thousands of like-minded golfers, organising casual games and society days.
In addition, host popular competitions such as the TSG Pairs, TSG Masters, and of course, the annual TSG OPEN Championship.
However, if the day proves a success, both teams have already discussed how The Social Golfer’s bespoke Global Handicap System (whereby you can enter scorecards from any course in the world – not just a UK course) may be made available to 16-21 years olds at no cost.
The event is also supported by Golf News Magazine, GoGoGo Sport Rangefinders & Golf Deals Group.
Speaking on the collaboration, Head of Fundraising at The Golf Foundation, Vanessa Bell said, “We met Ian at The Golf Foundation’s golf industry annual Matchplay event held at The Berkshire. The Association of Golf Writers took on the Golf Foundation team. Ian listened intently to what we did and immediately asked how he could help. We are looking forward to helping Ian host a great day for his members, and we will host a four-ball auction on the day in support of our 2025 program, too. We cannot wait to see how this partnership can grow beyond this event, too.”
Ian Mullins, Owner and Editor of The Social Golfer, said, “Having raised money for international and global disabilities golf events, including The Cairns Cup and international golf projects in Uganda, Africa, in previous years, we felt it was time to support a charity closer to home in 2025. Vanessa very quickly demonstrated an enthusiasm to work us, so we quickly set about designing a theme for the event. Golf, Auctions, Prizes, Trophies, LIVE Music and a BBQ, what more could you want on a golf day!”
